Type & Source

This dataset is a supplementary data release to the article “Measuring neighborhood socioeconomic status from the sky and the street.” It provides extrapolated socioeconomic conditions for neighborhoods in central Beijing, based on a combination of remote sensing, street view imagery, and statistical modeling.

2. 130 Townships
3. in the central area of Beijing.

Content

The neighborhood socioeconomic status (nSES) score comprises 8 indicators grouped into 5 key dimensions:

1. Hukou
2. HUKOU: Percentage of households with a Beijing hukou
3. Education
4. TER_EDU: Percentage of tertiary-educated residents
5. EDU_YES: Mean years of schooling
6. Employment
7. JOB: Percentage of population in high-paying jobs
8. Income
9. INCOME: Mean household income
10. Housing
11. AREA: Mean household floor area
12. AREA_PER: Floor area per capita
13. COM_HOUSE: Percentage of commercial housing units
