The first annual conference established a shared platform for discussing urban shrinkage in China, combining conceptual debate, empirical evidence and planning practice with a field visit to Daojiao Town.

Urban shrinkage in the Pearl River Delta, the SCRNC research agenda, governance, local shrinkage and smart shrinkage.
Afternoon presentations and round table
Regional change, planning under decline, housing dynamics and a round-table discussion on a Chinese research framework.
Field observation in Daojiao, Dongguan
Visit to Daojiao town centre and Nanya Industrial Area, followed by discussion of local industrial and spatial transformation.
